All Our Responsibility
Promoting the Legal and Responsible Consumption of Beer
In Colorado, the Beer Industry plays a critical role in educating the public about the problems of drunk driving, alcohol abuse, and illegal underage purchase and consumption
The Beer Industry spends millions of dollars annually to:
- Produce public service announcements to educate about alcohol abuse and illegal underage consumption. In 2005, the Colorado Beer Distributors Association and the National Beer Wholesalers Association teamed up with Colonel Mark Trostel from the Colorado State Patrol to produce and run a public service radio campaign on the dangers of underage drinking. - Train servers of alcoholic beverages.
- Distribute responsible party planning guides
- Provide Information about fake IDs.
- Display information at retail outlets.
In recent years, drunk driving fatalities and illegal underage consumption has dropped to historic lows. The is why distributors sponsor hundreds of programs throughout the community to help educate youth, parents, teacher and community leaders on the important issue of illegal underage drinking.
In 2005, the Beer Industry helped pass a new law (HB05-1183) that strengthens the Colorado underage drinking laws and provides minors an opportunity to notify authorities in a crisis situation. |
